The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, has approved the construction of two buildings of 36 classrooms for Lajo Secondary School, Offin in lgbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
This was revealed by the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), at his first Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held at Golden Event Centre, Oke – Eletu, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The project also includes construction of perimeter fencing and other facilities
The lawmaker also said that he has presented a list of schools to the Governor, for intervention.
The structure in Lajo Secondary School collapsed on Sunday, April 20, 2024, leaving the community that established the school and mobilised for its construction and students that are attending the school, in a great disbelief.
“I am a bit disturbed on the state of Luwasa Secondary School as mentioned. Before we started the reordering of the budget, I presented some schools in my constituency to Mr Governor for approval to rehabilitate them, but the Lajo Secondary School at Offin was made a priority by the Governor, because the structure collapsed”, Hon. Aro said.
“Mr Governor gave approval to that of Lajo Secondary School, Offin in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, and others that are in dire need first, but I can assure you that this (Luwasa Secondary School, Ijede) has been included in the next year budget.
“At Lajo, the approval given by Mr Governor is to construct 18 classrooms in two structures to make it 36. It is also going to be fenced.
“The Governor has given his approval and the contractor handling the project is among us here today, but I will not present him”, he said.
The representative of Ikorodu Constituency II assured the constituents of Ijede LCD that he would pay a visit to Luwasa Grammar School, to see where he can personally intervened before the rehabilitation by the government next year.
“I will come there to see if there is a way I can personally intervene and correct some things there personally”, he said.
